Default Do I Need New Breather and a Power Commander

I was down at the Delmarva Bike Week and picked up a set of Rush 2.0's for my 09 StreetGlide. Really good deal, Factory sold, HD installed, no tax, free shipping for my OEMs, all for $398. My question, both the Rush factory rep and Seaford HD said I didn't need to do anything to my bike, unless I change the breather. Is this true? I'm taking it in for the 5K checkup and if necessary go ahead and get it dynatuned and new breather and power commander installed. I just don't want to spend the bread unless it's necessary. Thanks anyone,

Dave

Default PCV and AT threads

Here is a link that has a lot of good information on the PCV and auto tune. Read throught this to see if this helps you.

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...e-info-17.html

If you only replace the slipons, you do not have to add fuel management system. If you replace the AC, then consider the fuel managment over the moco remap. If you do the PCV you may not need the dyno tune. You may want to consider installing the AT.

i changed out the stock air cleaner for the se unit, and the mufflers for the rinehart slip ons. also at the time, i had the stage one download, and all was fine. then i installed the pcv with a canned map. my tourque went up, but the fuel mileage, like today, 211 miles and it's time to refuel. went from 40+ mpg to mid to low thirties with the pcv. it'd do much better if i had it dynoed, but for now, i'm not too excited about it. ran fine with the se air cleaner, rineharts and the stage 1 download. my streetglide will never be a hyabusa, and i don't expect it to be.

You don't have to do anything if you just put pipes on, if you upgrade the air filter, then you need to go with some type of fuel management. I've just had slipons for awhile now, and it hasn't affectd the performacne at all except give it about 7 more hp.I still get god milage also.

How do you know that it gave you 7 HP? Just curious...

Ditto, If the only change are the Rush slip-ons you are fine.

Hagerswami,
Take it from experience, just change ro the rush slip-ons. Don't bother with the PCV, AC, or any type of fuel management system. Exspecially if your looking to save the dough. All that other crap will only cause you to spend money. I have had rush on both of my harley's and most of my buds do too. Not a single one of us has anything but the Rush slip-ons. As a matter of fact I just put them on my new 09' SG. I bought the 1 3/4" baffle though. The pipes have the best sound and performance in my opinion. Before I went to the Rush pipes I was running Python III's. There is a definate loadness difference because I chose the 1 3/4's, but now I'm not blowing myself of the bike. You will be very happy with your decision. If you decide to buy the other stuff for it also look for fuel mileage decrease to add to the money flying out of your pocket. It takes all of about a half an hour to do both pipes yourself, so save some more and put them on yourself. Just be sure to buy two new clamps from your dealer.

Thanks all, you just reaffirmed what I've found out. I've put over 450 miles on this past week and nothing seems to be different. I'm still averaging mid 40's in mpg, but what I really like are the louder pipes. As I said, dealer in Seaford, DE put them on for free and there was no tax, so I'm a happy guy. Guess the factory reps and the dealer were both up front with me. Thanks again,

Dave
