Tuner Confusion!!!!!

The SERT and the SEST are not the same thing.
The SERT gave you complete control of the mapping in the ECM...the SERT is now the TTS as they had the rights to the unit and HD dropped them.
I could be wrong but the SEST does allow you to change a certain area of the mapping...THANKS EPA.
So the TTS should be a better unit than the SEST.
Plus all HD wants to do is sell you their stuff.

Had the TTS done on my 08 RK by an indy in Los Angles who was trained on the TTS system and the bike runs fantastically. Had the FuelPak before and could never get rid of the deceleraton backfires. Fuel mileage now 2-3 mpg better and oil runs 10-25 degrees cooler. You get what you pay for!

I think you are right about the differences between the sest and the sert. I apoligize for not being clear in my earlier post. I was refering to the SERT. and by newer harleys I ment 06 and up. He still tends to use the thunder max set up on the older fuel injection and carberated bikes. still uses the PC on Japs.

The "new" version of the SERT is the SEST (S/E Super Tuner).
In the right hands, it can make your motor run better than you ever imagined it could. The key is "in the right hands". The exact same is true for the TTS and DirectLink ~ both of which are the same (functionally) as SERT & SEST, only sold by someone other than the mothership.
SERT/SEST/TTS/DirectLink would be "MY" choice over the other "add-on" or replacement alternatives (I've owned or worked on bikes with almost all of them.

According to a source TTS used to make the the SE; but when TTS came up with lots of improvements the Moco was not interested and severed the relationship. The TTS is what the SERT might have been. I dumped my SERT and bought a TTS. Amazing. But only with a tuner who is trained to use the dyno properly.

I have a 2010 FLTRX that is mechanically stock except for an HD oil cooler. I am ready to put an air cleaner, pipes and a tuner on, but I can't decide on the tuner. I don't want a tuner like the PC because it tunes the bike to 1 x altitude / humidity; I want a tuner that adjusts the fuel curve based upon the closed loop sensors.
The Fuelpak seems like an okay solution but not a great one. I don't want to have to get the bike dyno'd and fine tuned with just a filter and pipe install, but I want the capability to get it dyno'd and fine tuned in the future if I do any additional upgrades without having to buy a new tuner.
The Thundermax with auto-tune seems like the best match for what I want but it is rediculuously expensive ($900).
As for future upgrades I am thinking about either putting a new cam in the motor up moving up to a 103" with stock compression.
Unless I am off base here, with the Screaming Eagle Tuner you can pay for a map that covers your basic setup (see the beginning of my comments), but the tuner also allows you get the bike dyno'd and fine tuned in the future.
So am I confused or is the Screaming Eagle Super Tuner the best match for what I am looking for?
Thanks,
Dave
