Default Mustang Seats Are Comfortable - My A$$

Had my first real ride on my RKCustom this weekend with the wife. Bought a mustang solo with backrest, and the large pillion for my wife. We did a Sunday morning run through Hocking Hills in OH. Rode for about a total of 200 miles. About halfway through the trip my butt was killing me. My wife was getting sore, too. Stopped only once to stretch the legs, before heading home. By the time I got home, I couldn't take it.

Maybe my butt doesn't have enough cushion for a 200 miles ride, or maybe it's still too early and the seat still needs more mileage to conform, but that was not fun toward the end of the trip.

I havent heard to many people say that about the Mustang. I have a Mustang seat on my RK and I can say without a doubt it is the best seat I have used. Now, dont get me wrong. The Mustangs seats are not big couch cushy seats. They are not a soft seat that I sink in to. What it is though is a seat that gives me comfort and lets me ride for however long I want to ride.
If you bought directly from Mustand then I think they have a 30 day return policy or something like that. You may want to check into that as the seat does not change a whole lot after break in.

Another thought. I dont know how much riding time you have to gauge but you might have one of those butts that arent comfortable no matter what they put on. Have you checked any of the jell seats?

Gel seat may not solve your problem. Having a softer seat does not mean more comfort. You have to find a seat that fits your posterior, as well as weight and height. If you experience "burn" spots in your thighs or lower back pains, that seat is not for you.

I, personally, a believer in Corbin seats. I have gone through four different seats on my RKC, before ended up with a corbin. Now, this seat is broken in, and conformed to my rear very well and very comfortable. Again, you may have to experiment with a few to find the one you like. Others on this forum also recommended the HD Sundowner seat.

I bought a Mustang seat and returned it the next day. You get what you pay for!! Vinyl and not comfortable for me. Made me feel like there was only one place to sit. Bought a Raod Zeppeling and have been a happy rider for the last 2500 miles!

I have the Mustang solo and I wouldn't trade it for any other seat. Maybe you should try to ride without the backrest and see if that help's.

I bought and returned the top end Mustang seat for my classic. hated the seat. Been wondering about the road Zep from HD. I want to sit on one before I buy. Right now, gel pad for long trips 300+ miles.

Stock on my UC but I've ridden thousands of miles in seats labeled "saddle"
from horses to racing bicycles to motorcycles so it's no biggie for me.

Guy here at work is on his 3rd. seat on his RG and still not happy.

I would ask around see if you can demo until you find what suits and just as important what the wife likes.
