Default Front suspension upgrade ?'s

Bike: 02 Ultra w/ 36,000 miles

It has never had service. I know, I know... it should have been serviced by now. I have been looking at some of the options to upgrade along with service. It obviosly has the damper in the fork. I remember some people rebuilding the fork as a conventional fork. I am not looking to lower the bike. In fact right now it sits lower than it has. I am not sure if the fluid is so shot that it effects the compression rate and ride height or I have a bad set of springs. What are some of the options that you guys have tried? I am not looking to break the bank either.

Thanks guys,

Neil

Cheapest upgrade is to fit progressive-rate springs and different oil. Progressive Suspension make them as do other brands. As Bryan suggested, you can additionally use RaceTach gold emulators, which provide improved damping control and RaceTech also supply progressive-rate springs. An alternative damper device is Ricor Intiminators. Both Emulators and Intiminators fit inside your existing forks.

If you have truly deep pockets, you can go the whole hog and install a Traxxion cartridge kit, which replaces the entire contents of your current forks.

Links to all these are here.

I agree.
Just changing the old black, gritty oil from those tubes will make a difference.Even the same wt. oil will make a difference.
