Unhappy RKC Leather Bags - wet

I've put the bag/leather dressing on every time I've washed the bike. Well they seemed to have gotten pretty water logged this past weekend in Maggie Valley, and I'm not sure that they are going to recover they are looking bad. Anyone had problems with bags not drying out and the leather not shrinking back. Thanks in advance.

Not sure how water logged your talking, but when I had em on my bike they held up good in rain. The leather does expand and contract in heat and cold, so throw em out in the sun for a while and see what happens. Everytime I road in the sun they smoothed right out, then bubbled a bit in the garage at night.

I have a 08 RKC I have not had any problems so far. Maybe
you are over greasing them.

My bags have done the same thing, don't worry about it. Keep em out in the sun for a while and that leather will fit the way it should. The more it has happened to my bike, the less drastic the bubbling is each time. I put leather dressing on my bags about 2x a year.

I spray mine with H-D Leather & Suede Water & Stain Repellent a couple of times a year and use Lemon Pledge on them in between treatments. They repel water like a duck's back and the Pledge keeps them looking like new.

My 09 Road King left side bag has bubbled from day one. This was even prior to it ever seeing a drop of water. Moisture from the humidity in the garage contributes. As others have mentioned, if the bike is in the sun for any period of time bag seems to tighten up nicely. Right side bag always stays tight. Not sure what the difference is. Good Luck.

I use Doc Bailey's on my bags and have ridden in the rain many times and they still look great.

original road king classic 1998.
bags have gotten went plenty of times.
Place trash bag inside inside your bags or they can get moist.
Seen newer bags with saggy leather tops.
