Good job staying safe.
If you notice my sig, you see my wife rides her own bike. There is not a minute goes by that I am not checking my mirror to check on her. It took me 2 years to get comfortable with her riding behind me. We ride everywhere and in all kinds of weather. She rode the dragon in 08 and did fine, I rode it looking in my mirror. She won't ride out front, she thinks I will critique her riding style and habits. She is a good road rider but still has her moments in parking lots or trying to back her bike up. It depends how determined your wife is on getting her own ride whether ot not you put it on the back burner (IMO). If she is a good driver in a car or truck, then chances are she will be as good on the bike. As stated, this is JMO and not intended influence you or any other rider out there.

That guy was what is affectionately called a "steering wheel holder". I drive a truck also and believe or not on several instances they have done that to me also. How the hell can you not see another 18 wheeler beside you on a clear day? Now i got a CB on my bike so i can call them(at a safe distance) a rude ignorant pig whose behavior would embarass a poop slinging monkey. I do call the state police or their company if they're too reckless.

Couple of things here; this particular trucker may be an excellent driver who just made a major mistake like we all can do at times, but, given the amount of un-skilled, poorly trained drivers out there today, he very well may be in that catagory.
The advice to stay away from big trucks is also good advice even when you are in your cage. Be sure to teach your young teenage drivers this. Anything falling off a truck is a lethal missile. Have seen broken brake drums do a number on several different vehicles and cause major injuries over the years.
Driving a truck for a living is like riding/owning a HD; if you have never done it, you just can't/don't understand. (not making excuses or condoning unsafe driving here, just stating a fact.)
