My local Autozone and OReilly both of lender tools which includes a bearing installer tool with various size adapters. I used that though I would not have hesitated to use the socket method if that weren't readily available.

the problem with using a socket and just pushing on the outer race of the bearings is when the inner race touchs the inner spacer of the wheel, you are sideloading the bearings. the proper tool covers the entire bearing and applies pressure evenly to the inner and outter races of the bearing. once the inner bearing race touchs the inner wheel spacer it stops. also the proper tool pulls the bearing into the wheel evenly without cocking it at all. this keeps your wheel bearing bores straight and tight. not saying you can't use a press or even a big c-clamp, but the proper tool works well and avoids damage. hate to say it ,but with the rate that these junk 25mm bearings fail, you will get alot of use out of this tool. one bearing must be installed before the other too, front left goes in before the right.

Guess that's why I was taught to reverse the socket, and to use an extension bar to seat bearings. I've seen very expensive tools misused and also cause damage.
