J&M and SHOEI Helmets - 411 you need to know
I know this has been brought up by John of J&M Audio, but I felt that a real-world example was good info for my Forum family.
After nearly 6 mos with my new bike and the SHOEI RJ Platinum-R 3/4 helmet with the J&M Elite Series headset, I felt the need to actually be 100% comfortable while riding.
The audio / Comms performance was excellent in the Elite, but because the Elite speakers don't really fit well in SHOEI helmets, I had been living with sore ears by days end. The ear pocket isn't quite deep enough to fit the Elite Series in the SHOEI helmets and since I only wear my Multi-Tec when the weather doesn't cooperate, I had experienced enough 'comfortable' riding to know that this was the right way to go.
My 2009 Fall Colors road-trip was looming last Monday, so on Tuesday I made the decision to buy a set of the Performance Series like I have in my SHOEI Multi-Tec, so that I would be more comfortble while riding (bought from Sierra Electronics as usual).
I installed the headset speakers on Friday night and when I started out on Saturday morning, I was totally amazed to feel so comfortable with the helmet, yet have excellent quality audio / comms!
For anyone who is considering or has a SHOEI helmet and wants to improve the audio quality over that of the stock H-D headset (sucks big-time IMO), I can attest to the product quality, audio quality and ease of installation of the J&M Performance Series (link above).
Tomorrow marks 6 months with the new bike and I've got 16,209 miles on the bike. Not sure I get too much more mileage, but I do have a couple of errands to run, so I should probably make it to 16,300 miles in 6 months.
