D&D Fat Cat - how loud are they?
OK, I know "loud" is a subjective thing..... But are they:-
1. Quiet - just a tiny bit louder than stock
2. Moderate - louder than stock but still very reasonable
3. Loud - could get irritating on long rides
4. LOUD! pisses people off, sets off car alarms....

somewhere between 2-4 depending on what baffle is used, and what if any motorwork has been done to the bike.

Regardless the baffle, the D&D is a good performer.
If you're bike is stock the quiet baffle wont be obnoxious loud but the D&D setup with the Quiet baffle is somewhat loud and the D&D with the standard baffle is WAY LOUD.
If your bike has a hopped up engine, then even the quiet is darn near "asking for a ticket" loud.
just my 2cents
I would encourage you to find one and listen to it. The D&D isnt for everybody, totally different sound and at certain rpm's has that "empty barrel" resonance to it.
Good luck

Listen to the video clip at this site, you will get an idea of performance and sound.

My observations:
08 Fatcat:
With standard baffle = 2-3, Performance great
With Quiet baffle = 1-2, Performance outstanding.
09 Boss Fatcat:
With standard Performance baffle = 4, performance ok.
With Quiet baffle = 3-4 (still very loud), performance litte better.
On my 09 Ultra, the 08 FatCat wins hands down. I hate the performance and sound of this 09 Boss Fatcat. Only reason I have it is because it doesn't burn my pants! The 08 pipe has that wierd rear bend on the rear cylinder...burned three pairs of work pants otherwise I'd still have it.
$700 and the boss fatcat is yours....perhaps you'll have better luck.

The louvered quiet baffle was tested against the louvered standard baffle, and the quiet baffle made better numbers on the dyno in head-to-head testing.
The louvered quiet baffle has a nice deep rumble to it while at idle and cruising, but if you twist the wick it will bark for you. I cruise up the highway at 75-80mph (3000RPM)
and I have no problems hearing the radio at all.

The Boss Fatcat is a loud pipe especially when combined with larger cams and high compression, but that's how the gearheads like it to sound. When I snap the throttle beside a cage...I want the muthafugga to know i'm there. :-)
The new Boss Fatcat is like the old pipe but has a kick added to the rear of the head pipe to allow for the wider swing arm on the 09/10 frames. They now offer 2 options for baffles, the standard and quiet. The performance is the same as it always was and these pipes boast a great torque line on most bikes/builds. I posted a couple FatCat sound video's in the exhaust section of the forum so you can hear how it sounds on a beefed up bike.
