Joke turned into an upgrade

Congrats on the new scoot - I hope it gives you years and years of riding pleasure! Especially since it's going to take so long to pay it off.
Whenever I hear a salesman talk about payments at the start, I hold onto my wallet. It's like a magician distracting you with the pretty assistant. Talk a cash deal first, then financing separately. To mix them up is dangerous -- that $19K RK might have just turned into a $25K upside-down loan that you'll be paying off for the rest of your life just to "keep the payments the same".
I don't care how slow it is at the dealership. Sure, they're losing money paying overhead and not moving metal, but selling bikes at a loss isn't the way out of that hole.

I'm assuming that you traded in the 2008 since part of your wife's "deal" was that the dealer pay it off. So I was just wondering how the salesman agreed to that since you couldn't have had the bike with you since you said you drove 1.5 hours to the dealer with your wife and kids. I mean even if you bought the bike there it is still 2 years old and the salesman I would think needs to actually see the overall condition of the bike right? Just wondering.

How in the world can you guys keep saying "good deal" when you don;t really know anything about the "deal"? I mean first off $19K is more than MSRP for a RK to begin with. Now maybe he meant that was an OTD price but he didn't say that. Then next and more important is you don't know how much those payments are "that stayed the same amount" or how long they are now for. Then add in no down payment and I doubt seriously that it is that much of a good deal. Actually sounds like it might be a very expensive deal by the time it is paid off. You should NEVER approach any vehicle sale based on payments, salemen LOVE folks that do that cause that is when they have card blanc to bent you over and you never see it coming.
Now with that said I don't care about his payment and as said earlier by another poster none of us should because we don't have to make his payment. But it is misleading to potential buyers that might read this thread to be saying "good deal" when in fact it may or may not be. Instead I'll just say good bike and if the OP is happy with the deal that is all that matters.

You post. You get replies. People get to start threads with what they want to say and other get to reply. Great forum that way. I'm happy he got want he and the misses wanted. But an 08 Fat Bob traded and paid off and a payment the same for a bike that sells for considerably more? No matter how you cut that pie you take a finacial loss. His post sounded like the saleman had made a great deal.
