Likely subject to many influences, but I have two good years and 15,000 miles on my stock battery. It feels like it is struggling a bit.... How long do these things last... It's turning a bigger starter and a 117 motor... lots of lights on the bike too... I'd rather be safe than sorry... should I change it during the off season....
I assume you have comp. releases, but with a bigger motor(starting) and extra lights this can tax the battery.
Of course all depends on how often you ride and storage with/without a charger also.
Yes, electric SE releases and I ride as much as I can... probably will do 10-12000 a year... not as much as I'd like, but back surgeries, took me out for 3 mos this year and of course living in PA does not help.
The last battery I replaced (my 99) was seven years old when it finally gave up. I wouldn't replace at two years unless it completely dies. My one year old OEM HD battery sometimes acts as if it's struggling a little, but it keeps working fine.
My 02 Ultra still has the stock battery. Never used a battery tender, still PLENTY hot.......... Now, since I post this, I'm sure that it will be dead in the morning!
I plug the bike into the tender when I put it back into the garage. It stays on the tender until the next ride. I sold a bike this spring with over 7 years on the battery. I collect sport cars and bikes. Some sit a long time. I have never had a battery problem. The tender is the only way to go. Even if you ride every day a tender still is a benefit.
