Thumbs down Online Buyer Beware

Tried to work an online trade with a very Prominent Harley dealer in Gastonia NC. Gave them the info on my bike and what I wanted to trade for. Dealer emailed back with a payment range that I could work with. Took the afternoon off for the 90 minute ride to the dealership only to find the dealer had went up 150 dollars a month. Stated the salesman had made a mistake. They would not honor his online deal. Even went so far to say the deal they were giving me only allowed them to make 20 dollars at the elevated price. They said we will make this deal right. Every time they give me new numbers the price is going up. I even tried a lower priced bike with no success. Beware of this dealership. What you get online means nothing.

Only thing I would do is perhaps looks at whats available in stock on the floor at a Nearby Harley.. When comes to making any deals involving that kind of money .. Want to see it Person, Test Ride and also look the Sales people in the eye..

You do bullshit on line, you buy bikes in person.Have all your ducks in a row, that's financing,go get the bike you want at the price you want.Act like a victim you get treated like a victim.

Forgot to mention I was trying to get an EGC or SG. That is why this is in the touring page. My bad. The dealer is the only Harley dealer in Gastonia NC. Would rather not mention names. The only reason for trying to work the deal online was to see how close we were on numbers. Hate to waste time riding that far if we were not close to a deal. Not a victim. Victim would have bought and then complained. Just my way of giving fair warning to all.

They gave you a firm deal before they even saw your bike?

Are you buying a bike based soley on the monthly payment?

I'm confused.

But good for you that your not going to name the only Harley dealer in Gastonia, NC. That will protect their identity.

People do screw things up you know. You can't expect them to sell you a bike at a loss, especially before they even see your bike. If they're willing to sell you their bike at what amounts to cost and give you a fair price on yours then you're way ahead of the game.

Sounds to me like they knew you were coming from a distance and hoped once you got there you would buy anyway. Look on the bright side at least you got to enjoy a 90 ride!

I do all my dealing online, but I finance with my CU. I absolutely hate dealing with salesman in person. When I bought my RK, I emailed them a price I wanted to pay on the bike I wanted, picked up the check at the CU, drove to the dealer (160 miles in the snow)signed papers and loaded it up.

Don't trade your bike in, sell it yourself. I sold my last harley in less than a month for $200 less than I was asking.

You got the trademark "bait, lie & switch" treatment. Salesman like to make promises to lure you in, and then the finance guy drops the hammer on you. Even as cut and dry as mine was, they still tried to sell me ext. warranties and other BS.

Find another dealer. Not all dealers are like this, and sometimes the extra distance is really offset by the savings (and lifelong relationship) you can create.
