Default Triple Platinum plugs in a NON-modified engine?

Just got back from an afternoon ride.
I happen to meet up with a bunch of friends just cruising around town.
One of the guys reminds me that I have Screamin' Eagle triple platinum plugs installed in my RK, but since I never had engine work done, I may be doing more harm than good.

I have a SE air filter, True Duals, Ovals, and PCIII. No internal changes.

Is there truth to his comment?

UNLESS THINGS HAVE CHANGED IT WILL NEVER RUN RIGHT ON ANYTHING BUT STOCK PLUGS. I GOT 10K OUT OF MY LAST STOCK SET. JUST CHANGED THEM BECAUSE I AM GOING ON A 6,000 MILE TRIP.

The triple platinum plugs won't hurt anything. The platinum is only what the electrodes are made of, if anything they will last longer for you as long as they are the correct heat range. Don't worry about it.

Can you elaborate a bit on "things that could have changed"?

What do you mean by "run right"?

ok, run the way it is supposed to run. I can tell you want these plugs. I did too. go ahead and get them . that is the only way you are going to believe me. .when you start throwing combustion codes, and you will and popping on decel you would have had your fling. rreally, go ahead and install them. i had to myself 3 years ago and now i stay with stock. .dont belive me? ask yur tech. it is a marketing ploy. if you buy it they will sell it.Just think: if every harley rider just has to have the triple plated se plufs and never uses them again the moco will still make a lot of money. it is like plug indexing. unless you competitively race it will make no difference.what i meant by things changing is if harley made some mods for the engine to accept the plugs. i garantee you they have not and are not going to. the moco is great at knowing when to leave things alone and if it aint broke dont fix it. they are also masters of smart advertising.

Look, you like spending $$$$ on your bike....

Nothing wrong with that.....

BUT, there is no realized benefit or perk that those plugs will give you.....

'Cept a lighter wallet, and sooner or later you WILL start seeing a Check Engine Light after your bike is running.....

Due to the fact that the ECM can't pick up the proper signal from the ION Sense pulse that is sent through the plug wires and plugs to the ECM through a Ping similar to Radar.....

Very interesting.

These plugs have been in my bike for about 300 miles. Only today did someone mention to me that they really shouldn't be in my bike.

I haven't had any noticable problems. No check engine lights or anything.

For the sake of it, I'll throw in a set of standard plugs tomorrow, and see if I feel anything different.

Thanks Guys. I'll take your advice.

OH......and BTW, Shovelhead........
Your comment about me liking to spend $$$ on my bike.....
I find that HYSTERICAL!

What Harley owner doesn't like spending money on his bike?

hey you may be the exception. keep them if they work. they would not work for me and most people i know. you probably did not ask about the plugs before you installed them so if they work may as well get your money worth.

I won't keep them if there's a chance that something could rear its ugly head when I least expect it.

I had the dealer install these plugs when they did the 1K service.
They didn't mention any potential problems.

I'd rather be safe than sorry.
