That design has been used by Harley longer than most peoples age on this site.

Did you check the tightness of the pivot bolt? Might also look at the mounting bolts...

I have a 2012 SG and my stand broke, Sheared clean off and they didn't even want to replace it under warranty!!!
Don't believe the hype they are not infallible.
If this replacement breaks I will be getting a centre stand or one of those front mounted stands.
My fourth Harley, never had a problem previously re the stand, maybe China makes em now?????
