Fleet Auction of Police FLHPI Motorcycles
#21
Thanks alot, when I get my chrome wheels on, it will really pop. Sending my factories in and doing the "chrome exchange" deal. When I get my next bike I will probably do the police bike thing again. They are such a great canvas with the basics already there for alot less money.

As others have mentioned, but don't get caught up in the auction frenzy considering the economy has generated lots of low priced private seller used bikes. I would have someone watching the exhaust carefully when the bike is started, look for any oil smoke. One common thing about many retired cop bikes is that they often have tons of high heat idling time doing radar duty, slow speed putting, etc and that takes a toll sometimes. I wouldn't be afraid to buy one, but it'd have to be a really good price.

It's a matter of personal preference I suppose. I wouldn't buy a police bike as my primary ride, but if I found a clean, well maintained bike for a very reasonable price I'd consider buying one as a second or third bike. I would do so with the understanding that I would probably need to invest some time and money in to it.
