Yep, you're getting hung up on the 2 hooks. Lift up and push in slightly to get off the hooks. A service manual would be a big help to you too

+2 on removing the headlight assembly before reinstall. Absolutely essential!

Be careful not to overtorque the Torx screws when reinstalling. Guess how I know...

How do you get the headlight assembly back on when the fairing is in place?

When you remove the headlight you will see the little squeeze clips that hold it in. All you have to do is line them up and push in till they catch. Just make sure they all line up before you push.

RE-Install; It is easier to keep the head lamp assembly out at this time. This will allow you to see the clips for the fairing mount. If you keep the headlamp assembly in, you will only get frustrated. W/ the headlamp out, it will only take a couple of minutes to put back together.

Re-connect molex to headlamp and lock in headlamp....DONE!!!

I have had mine off several times w/out any problems.

For "Thundercloud"; You more than likely have the incorrect speakers on the bike, meaning the ohms. This will cause head unit to overheat and cut-out. If speakers were changed. Check wiring also, this will cause it overheat and melt down.
+1. taking the headlight out is the ONLY way!!!

First time it took me an hour to get the fairing back on.
Now I can re-install it in seconds. Just line up the outer the fairing with the inner fairing, push up and in. No headlight removal needed.

You've probably heard it before but I finally remembered what your avatar picture reminded me of from when I was a kid watching Banana Splits;

HOLY *****! took seconds to get off and hours to get back on last night and still scared i pushed it into place! Didn't go together easily! Usually don't have to many issues with my bikes but this RGC is a new beast to me. Will be looking at doing it again this afternoon. Just can't take any chance that i may have screwed something up. Only a week old.

BTW... Anybody have any pics up of the install to show what i should be looking for? I do have the Service manual but the reinstall isn't the best instructions when you don't know what clasps you are looking for.

Thanks!

Just to back up what has been said. Last summer to install new speakers I had to take it off. Man was I nervous but this thread and others helped. First time I put it back on without taking the light out and it was an hour ordeal. Since then I have taken the fairing off 3 times and I can have it back on in minutes. That's why I love this site!
