Picked up my new Speedo/ Tach for my RK....BUT.
Today I picked up my Seedo / Tach for my RK. Nice addition.
However, it occured to me how easy it would be for someone to simply purchase this speedo / tach, and falsely report their mileage for max resale value.
When I ordered the speedo, my dealer simply asked me what my mileage was. When I picked up my speedo, it had whatever number I gave them.
How terrible would it be for someone to purchase a bike, thinking it had low miles, while the bike could really have a tremendous amount of miles?
BTW...Nice gadget.

when buying used it is Always buyer beware - I have sold two HD's in the past 10 years.. each time, I gave the buyer a folder with ALL the service tags and anything that was done at the Dealer - each tag has the miles on it - a savy buyer will not only try and get a "Read" on the seller - look at the tags and do some math - of course this is only an "indicator" and still buyer beware - Most are honest - if it doesn't feel or look right - just walk away.

Here's how easy it was:
Remove the 1/2 inch nut on top of the console, and the phillips head screw at the lower end. That will allow you to lift up the console.
At that point, simply remove the harness clip that plugs into the current speedometer. (there's only one clip).
Now remove the black ring that surrounds the housing of the speedometer. This has 3 little clips that you simply bend back a bit. The speedometer will now be able to be lifted right out of the console.
Now install the new speedo / tach the same way. There are no other wires other than the single clip that you removed from the old speedo.
This is very nice addition, and already paid dividends for me.
I was getting an occassional backfire at a certain RPM while downshifting. Having the Tach allowed me to take note exactly where this was happening, and enabled me to simply add a little fuel via my PCIII at that RPM / throttle position. Problem solved.
