Now there's a thought. Buy a brand new bike, pick it up and put it straight onto a truck. It's going to look nice sitting in the garage under the cover, at least until it goes onto eBay with very low miles on it.

Seriously though...get a buddy to take you there, and ride it home. Nothing like that first ride on a bike leaving the dealer. Heck, my friends and I always get excited when somebody gets a new bike, and a line forms to be the one to take the guy to the dealer to get the bike.

don't strap to the handlebars. you run the risk of bending the bars. Strap to the forks just above the lower fork brace and strap to the rear passenger floorboard mounts to keep rear of bike from moving around. Unless its to far from the dealership, leave the truck and ride the bike home and have a friend go with you later to pick up the truck or call a cab

He has another thread.

Welp I decided I found the best deal and as close to me as possible .
Picker it up tommorow ,2009 STREE GLIDE Black with cruise ..
Cant wait to see it in person , Nothing local at all ..
Going to be a 6 hr or so drive ,,
Paying in full , So the dealer better be honest with me ,
Guess I worry to much ???
I,ll be lookin hard for a few assesories ,so give me a few simple ideas to start .
Nothing drastic cause the funds are low .....LOL...
I ,m just glad I found a new one and not used ..Only abought $1600. more for the new .
i,LL GET A FEW PICS ASAP.....
A six hour ride would be a helluva maiden voyage.

Handlebars man handlebars. Seriously, if you have to transport a long ways or there's some other reason you can't ride it, fix up your trailer. It will fit in the truck, but you'll cry like a little girl if you drop it and dent it while unloading it from your truck in your driveway. Don't ask me how I know.

That bike is just under 8 ft. I doubt it will fit in a short bed.

And your buddies will not call you the trailer queen? Sorry couldn't help that.
If you are not going to ride it home put it on the trailer. safer & a lot easier to unload when you get it home. Me even if it is a 6 hour ride home I could not trailer it. That is me. The only time I ever trailered a rideable bike was when the family & I went to Ohio for 2 weeks & they would not fit on the bike. Just ride it.
