Annual "Road to the Sun" in Glacier Nat'l Park last weekend. Arrived in Whitefish Montana 'bout 9:30 Friday night. Before heading up to the condo we had a refreshment in town. On the way up the mountain my dad noticed scraping when turning left, although worse than usual he didn't think too much of it as he always drags his floorboards in the twisties. Come out in the morning and all the primary fluid is on the garage floor. We figure he left his stand down (it was bent) and it slammed into his primary cover and putting a hole in it. What to do now...we're on a ski hill, in the off season, not too may folks around, and no harley dealer for miles. Went to the local NAPA store picked up some plumbers putty, pulled the cover off, cleaned it, sanded it and applied the putty. Let it sit for 20 mins as per instruction. Put it all back together with some fresh oil and off we were. No leaks no issues. Cured hard as rock. We went on to ride another 1500 kilometers after that.
Plumbers putty = good ****.
