Default Increase "friction zone" in clutch?

Is there a way to increase the length of the friction zone? I noticed that I really don't grab until I'm near the top of the release point of the clutch handle.

My cable has about 1/16th - 1/8th play at the handle.

Thanks

I be curious also as I just adjusted my clutch and mine seems this way too. I gave mine closer to the 1/8" of play and it's a lot better.

you need to adjust the clutch adjustment nut. refer to your service manual. it is a simple procedure.

1/2 turn on adjuster screw and a nickel's width at the perch for play and you should be happy.

I thought so.

But simple procedures usually become complicated for me.

I went exactly like the manual says. Back off the locknut, turn the adjuster screw until it lightly seats then back off 1/2 to 1 turn. Then adjust the clutch cable until you have 1/16 to 1/8 gap.

Clutch still seems to grab pretty far out.

Road Dawg got it. If the clutch is releasing high instead of backing off 1 turn, back off between 1/2 and 3/4. Seat that screw a few times before backing off to make sure it isn't binding. Easy.
Then do yourself a favor and put anti seize on your dome screws.

I only backed it off a 1/2 turn.

I might try more gap on the cable tonight. I know I don't have a nickle's or 1/8" worth. Mine's prolly closer to the 1/16th.

Good call about the anti-seize...

Just wondering, how many miles do you have on your bike?

Do you "ride the clutch" a lot or let it fully engage before accelerating or in between gear shifts. Do you slip the clutch a lot when taking off? Maybe you've worn the clutch with your riding style.
What kind of oil do you have in the primary and is it the right amount?

I just traded for an 2010, it was the 1st 1000 mile service. New Syn 3 oil in the primary.

I don't "ride" the clutch but it doesn't seem right being that far out. Makes it harder to work the clutch.
