I bought my Road King first, the Ultra second. I thought I'd never listen to the stereo, WRONG!!! If I only had one bike, I'd go for a Street Glide or Road Glide I think, then add the tour pack, lower fairings etc...

I love the twisty turnies and find that I get a glare when I have my windshield on which causes a problem and can be hazardous. About the only time I have my shield on is for an extended trip. My RK handles the turns great, very comfortable (more so once I find a seat I like) and I love the fact that it looks like a sport bike without the shield and passenger backrest. Put them on and it transforms into a cruiser. I do not need music while riding and I have a Nelson Riggs bag which attaches to the passenger backrest for extra storage when necessary. In short I love the wind in my face unless it is raining. What you have on a RG you are stuck with. I guess I consider my RK a convertible and I almost always have the top down.

I vote for the Roadglide, but then that is what I ride. I did not like the riders position on the King.

+1

It's like choosing between chocolate or strawberry ice cream. BOTH are good.

If I could only have one bike, I would have looked hard at the Road King. Since I was adding a second bike to be dedicated to touring, I got the Road Glide as I feel it has the nicest highway ride. They both have their advantages.

So it sounds like you're going with the Glide. Now every time you see a King, you're going to say to yourself, "geez, should I have gotten one of those?".... But you'd be saying the same thing about the GLide if you bought the King. I'd have gone with the King. Options. Windshield, no windshield, detachable fairing, no fairing....and the same touring frame, motor, trans, etc.... I just like options.

I have the RKC and really enjoy the ride. I was not interested in having a fairing.

Sorry, I won't be any help. But, I also think both the king and the RG are great bikes and a tough choice.

I recently rode the 2010 Road Glide. I'm pretty iffy on the shark nose look, but I have to say that bike is nothing short of awesome after driving it. I was so suprised on the handeling and comfort. The steady shark nose didn't bother me a bit - I didn't even think about it actually - and it felt nice with no handle weight. It takes the corners great. I thought the king was a nice fit for me at 6'-1", but I am extremely impressed with the RG.
