Default from the files of crazy stuff that happens to me.

I was riding down the highway at about 80 mph and engine make a strange knocking noise. I eased off the throttle and revved it a bit and heard it again. I pulled over and it was fine. The next day everything seemed normal. Fast forward 2 days I was on the highway and it happened again. This time I noticed my oil pressure was only reading under 10 while under load @ 80. I pulled off and checked my level and the dipstick was bone dry! I had to add 2 quarts. I am due for my 5000 mile service I am at about 5500 miles right now. I am not leaking any oil so I am thinking that the last oil change wasn't filled up to the proper level. I shouldnt have burned up 2 quarts right?

Hell no! If you burnt two quarts then something is wrong.

So when was the last time you checked your oil or looked at your pil pressure?

Make sure you check those fluid levels in between service checks! I always check mine weekly (only takes a minute), and always after when somebody else does servicing (of course, I do my own now, so nobody but me to blame if I cannot properly add the number of quarts going in the hole).

A mate of mine had the same thing happen on a 1400 mile ride. no oil at the end. He permanently damaged the bearings by running them dry and 4 months later the engine rattled like a diesel and needed a rebuild.

Assuming you had the 1000 mile check done at 1000 miles what you are saying is you haven't checked the oil in 4500 miles. Get the 5000 service done and check the oil before every ride until you get a handle on whats happening.

I had the same thing happen.
The customer service lady at the MOCO told me that using 1qt every 1K miles is normal......
The servcie mgr at the dealer said don't worry.
I'm paranoid and want to trade it off. I'm looking at a Limited about November I hope.
FWIW , I've rode 1K miles in the last two weeks and used no oil, ????
Makes no sense to me.

That's not normal. That's excessive.
