Unhappy I screwed up???

I think maybe I blew out my rear air shocks by adding air with my compressor. Now it seems they don't want to hold air for very long. I like to run 10 lbs. for a smooth ride. Is there any hope or do I have to replace them. Don't know if my dealer would warranty them for me or not--probably my fault. If I have to replace them what do you folks recommend? Thanks for your help. And yes being a man I tend to overdo things--if a little is good-more should be better!

You sure its not just an air line or fitting?? put soapy water on each fitting and see if you can see any bubbles.

Your dealer might cover it, but you would have to lie to him and leave out the detail about not following the manual (and common sense) by using a compressor.....

No warranty I'll bet. I can just imagine the photos and notices of failures due to compressed air being used to fill the shocks that HD has distributed to their dealers.

I've always said that HD should have included the hand pump with each scoot. I would have paid the few bucks more. When I picked mine up there might have been 1 to 2 PSI in the shocks.

As stated above: check the lines and fittings first.

You need to check your air lines first. You might have gotten lucky and just blown one off. Good luck!

Just tell your dealer that you picked up a real heavy weight for a good time, thought you heard her fart, turns out it was the shock.

I am a Harley Newbe...... I am getting a 2009 RKC this coming week.

What is the best pump to use for the rear shocks and where is the best place (economical and reliable) to get them?

Just get the one from Harley. It is well designed and compact. Considering how much you spent on your bike it is not that expensive to do it the correct way.

I would just buy the one Harley makes. They're not that expensive and they work well. You can get a better price through Zanotti's or Chicago Harley. They do probably have them in stock at your local dealer.
