flush mount police saddlebag latch
anybody try one of these?
http://sochrome.com/latch.html
looks like a die-cast metal, flush mount, spring loaded pushbutton type of latch.
I was about to give the squadfitters latch a try,(http://www.squadfitters.com/catalog/...button-latch-k)
but I like the flush mount look of the first one.
any experience with either one of these?

looks like a die-cast metal, flush mount, spring loaded pushbutton type of latch. Those are not die-cast metal IMO; they look exactly like Southco M1-2A-13-1 latches that I used to buy from a distributor for $8 each and sell on Ebay a couple of years ago. At $69 per pair, the seller is making a GREAT gross margin. You can go to southco.com and find those latches and specs. They're an excellent latch, and looked great on my cop bags for 3+ years. They're a chrome plated nylon/plastic for the most part. Some internal parts (spring, etc.) are metal.

My buddy has them and has experienced serious problems keeping the lid latched while riding.
