Default Dealer says I can'tput slipon mufflers on my 08

Got my Monster Ovals today and called the dealer to see if I could put them on my 08 Ultra and run the bike with no other mods. they told me the only muffler I could do it with was the Screaming Eagle mufflers. I have o2 sensors on my exhaust so I don't see the problem. Is he blowing smoke up my rear?

I believe so but others can give you a more informative opinion.

I would think so. I'm sure there is enough folks on here that would agree with me. You might want to consider installing a hi-flow though, my dealer had no issues with basic ovals and a hi-flow. Good luck!

Exactly what he's doing .... Unless you just want to put them on without a MAP for the change...

Dealer giving you BS. Muffler replacement (any kind) does not necessitate re-mapping.

My dealer tried the same trick with a mate of mine. Told him you couldnt change mufflers without a SERT!!!

When my king had 1800 miles on it (back when it was a 96) the muffler fell off due to a broken pipe joint. I was on a long trip so I rode 1200 miles with the muffler strapped on to the passenger seat i.e. no right side muffler at all. The bike went fine, used less fuel and didnt run any hotter.

I have the new sert and SE air cleaner but wanted to run the mufflers first then drive the 120 miles to the dealer and have the rest put on and tuned.

No problem doing that. Only at the point when the air cleaner is changed out to the SE do you need to have the sert or some type of fuel re-mapping done. I hope the dealer your going to ride it to is not the same one that gave you the BullChit information?
