RE: How many people wear a helmet when they ride?
Always and I'm glad I have made that choice.
May 3 I went down at 50 mph missing a van turning left in front of me. I landed almost upside down on my left shoulder and on the side of my head/helmet. Took chucks out of the helmet and plenty of scrapes. I spent 13 days in the hospital. I would have spent more if I wasn't wearing a quality helmet. Might not have made it to the hospital if I wasn't wearing one.
I don't care if you guys wear a helmet or not, but would it be fair if your Wife or kids had to push you around in a wheelchair, wiped your butt, and feed you the rest of your life because of brain damage?
I've ridden for 40 years, almost 25-30,000 miles a year. I've never worried about dieing on one of my scoots, but I do worry about becoming a vegatable to be cared for by my loved ones until I finally die of old age!
I like the idea of having a choice, but my choice is to always wear one. If you're going to wear one, why not wear a quality helmet?

[color=#CC0033]It'a a no brainer wearing a helmet. Reduced vision? Hardly. Use the mirrors! If your vision or any other acuity is compromised wearing a helmet, then maybe you shouldn't be ridding anyway!
I know some dummies say, but it's my constitutional right. Whatever! I'm sure I want to be cruzin 65-70+ mph and have my melon hit a tree or the soft asphalt!
I love it when the insects smack you in the grill and forehead. What a feelin! Freedom baby!
Prob. the same dummies who ride in shorts and sandals.
I guess if your state doesn't have a helmet law, then ride how you like.
Dudes just wanna look cooool ridin w/o a helmet! Go for it!
Those dudes who race Grand Prix motorcycles never seem to have their vision compromised and how fast are they ridin- 140+ mph and more on a track.
How come they wear helmets? Theres no risk involved there, is there?
Bottom line, if you wanna ride w/o a helmet, be my guest.
Safety means different things to different people....and who am I to judge?
