Sorry, I didn't read through all the posts,. I'd look at finding a house under market value and use the equity to buy the bike also. It would make a great house warming gift to yourself!
Yes, Yes, Yes, all of the above son, that Harley fever thing can turn into a real virus that can cost major money. Having your own place someday(paid for), is a real sense of pride and security.
I am truly astounded by all the sensible replies. Usually we get some humps on here that think a motorcycle comes before, family, jobs, sensibility, responsibilities, et cetera.
Glad you decided to go for the house. Now my second thought is once you get settled in may I suggest bumping the 883 to a 1200 so you get a few more years fun out of it?
Get into a home as soon as you can, then figure out how to get the bike you want.Maybe even a basket case and learn how to work on them saving thousands of dollars.
Get the house - at the same time open a savings account with a few bucks. Have the bank add Streetglide in the account title or address line. That helps identify your goal.
Add to it when you can. If you really want it live frugally and when you see a new set of golf clubs or a new rifle, or the like, ask yourself do I really want that or should I take that money and put it in my Streetglide account.
