your young enough to buy a house and wait a few years and then go for the bike. this is the best time there ever was to buy a house. dont worry bikes are still going to go down in price. 4 years from now youll be able to buy a 2010 for cheap. hell in a lot areas you can buy a $250,000.00 for $85,000.00. now if you can find a $15,000.00 harley for $4,000.00 then that would be tempting but id still go with the house, and down the road those harley deals will be just that.

If you buy the house and then get married (if you are not already married), you will eventually loose the house in a divorce and be left with nothing (no house and no bike). If you buy the bike, chances are you will get that in the divorce because the wife will not really want that. I'd go for the bike! Let the wife buy the house. She's going to end up owning it anyway. I lost the house in my divorce, but did manage to keep both of my bikes. The new wife already had a house, so I have a place to keep the bikes.

Don't look at a house as an asset, it's a liability until you sell, then it may become an asset. The bike would be a liability also, but only you can make the decision. As a young person, owning a house will mean you lose some freedoms. You'll be responsible for maintenance and upkeep, and you'll still probably too young to know for certain about your future. What if you choose to move a year from now? Owning a house will make it harder to pick up and leave. What if you want to go for a week long ride? You'll need to find someone to take care of your yard for that week. Little things you'll need to consider when making the decision.

So I ended up buying the house, 1250 square foot cape with a 1.5 car garage in the back. The girlfriend and I have done a lot of work to it and are enjoying living together. I still have my eyes set on an Ultra but my truck has 133,000 miles on it and her car has over 250,000...so I think there may be a newer vehicle in the near future before I get to buy my dream ride.

Thanks for the advice on my Ultra vs. House Thread

Good job in buying the house, I don't know about putting the scoot behind the vehicles though. When you have the scoot, you probably will not want to drive your truck that much anyhow. Just saying.

Dude, forget the new car ... It's just a cage. Now that you have a house, buy a bike. Without a bike, your soul is dying.
