Default Drilling stock airbox cover

I was wondering if anyone has thought about drilling some holes in the back of the stock airbox cover to let in some more air? I was thinking of checking into it this weekend and installing some mesh screen to keep the major stuff out of the box. I'm probably going to later install the K&N or Ness Stage 1 kit but I just had the idea since I modified the airbox on my 03 Speed Triple and it did make a difference till the new map and pipe were installed.

Thanks
Scott

I drilled 1/2" holes on the bottom of both, the plastic back cover, and the metal front cover. You can't see them, but I can't say I noticed a difference.
