Default So I go to the parts department....

So last weekend I go into the parts department to pickup a couple of odds and ends and the lad behind the counter and I start to chat and I tell him I'm going to black out the front end on my EG Classic over the winter and start the process etc. So he tells me.. will look great BUT if I were you I'd buy the Harley parts already blacked out.. sliders and cans since they are BLACK CHROME and NOT powdercoated... Then he tells me that "moveable parts" and powdercoating do not mix and with the BLACK CHROME, I'd have no issues!

WTF.. they are beginning to stoop pretty low lol. Black chrome my happy *** I was about to tell him and I jest decided to shut my mouth, pay for my parts and hit the door.

Yeah, pretty common sales tactic for the dealer guys, they are just programmed to spew that stuff, i don't even know if they think before they speak sometimes. I can't blame them for trying, i'm sure it works on more folks than you know.

There is a black chrome, but it doesn't look like the solid black matte finish that Harley has on the nightster and such.

A cousin of mine has black chrome rims. They are shiny and black but look different in daylight and at night.

Indeed and I am aware of black chrome but these ppl are pushing off powder coating as
"black chrome" which is quite the "tactic" lol... I mean come on folks!

So stupid in fact I cannot even bring myself to type why I think it is stupid. It's that stupid.

I think I would have to drink that experiance off.... unbelieveable.

It's still not as stupid as the old "skating bearings with synthetic oil" myth. That one is at the top of my list and will likely rein in that top position forever, as I don't think it is possible to utter a stupider remark. OTOH, we must consider the source of these remarks, and anything is possible.

More likely a wide angle lens really close to the rim with a very small aperature creating a large depth of field....

in other words it's an optical illusion. The wheel really isn't that big.
