Default NEED: Recommendations for Michelin OEM replacements ('09 FLHX)

Hey folks,

I have an opportunity to select Michelin replacements for my 2009 FLHX.

I've got stock wheels. The specs are:
Front: Dunlop 130/80 R17 65H
Rear: Dunlop 180/65 R16 81H

The replacement tires MUST be Michelin and will be free of charge to me, but I have to do all the shopping.

Anybody got experience with Michelin tires for HD touring bikes (good or bad)?

I don't see exact 1:1 replacements with the same specs from Michelin (http://michelinmotorcycle.com/index....ruiser_touring) but I could definitely be missing something.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Apart from size make sure they meet or exceed the speed and load rating.
I went to Avons on my 07 RK and the biggest problem I had was finding tyres that not only fitted but that met the load rating.

Personally I will probably stick with Dunlops, I know some have had issues but I can only speak as I find and the stockers give me good grip wet or dry and at 8500 miles look like they will go to at least 10 / 12000 miles and maybe even a bit more. I do run my tyres 1psi over stated.

Try the Michelins; you won't be dissapointed. I put them on my Road Glide and I love 'em. Look here: http://www.americanmototire.com/cata...ath=33_176_183

I forgot to mention my bike handles, rides better and is quieter on the road. They are said to have better wet road tracking but I cannot confirm that yet. And no...I don't sell Michelin Tires.

Cool, thanks for the info/suggestions.

I have shopped around online and can't find a Michelin 17" front, or a rear that's at least 180.

I'll keep looking though.

Again, thanks.

Keep us updated on your findings. I've started looking for replacements on my 09 Ultra...nothing exact other than the Lops from the stealer or Avons. As of right now I'll probably go back with the stock Lops...unless they come out with something better between now and then????

Late,

I came up empty-handed and had to throw the "free Michelin tires" deal to my friend with a Goldwing.

another dunlop maybe? dunlop american elite, it looks better to me, my front dunlop 407 went bad realy quick and change it for the new 408, now the back tike run like a tractor tire, those tire suck. the new design american elite look like the marathon from metzeler and i like the name too. :-)
