Default Lowering kit? Does one exist?

Does anyone make a lowering kit that will fit a RK classic with hard leather bags? I see a ton of kits on flea-bay but none to fit the Road King Classics....anybody know of one?

You could replace your shocks with a set of progressives for a little drop, or change your seat. I believe the lowering kits will not work with the leather bags

Yeah, I am beginning to believe that there just is not a bolt-on kit for the RKC's.

They will all fit but you will not be able to put the bags back on because the kit changes the shock angle too much. If you look at the back side of one of your bags you will see what I mean as it is very tight where the shock fits.
I put some on a 06 Road King Classic and had to cut the back of the bag then do some fiberglass work. Turned out pretty sweet though.
On the down side, because the Classic is already an inch lower (just like the Street Glide) it rode pretty stiff.

Someone must make them because I have a set on my RK Classic. Not sure of the maker because I got them off of e-bay. I'm thinking it was 2-brothers, but not sure. I know that they were specified for the hard leather bags. I'll take a look and see if I can find a name on them. You might want to search e-bay in the mean time.

You could go with a air ride system like I did. Sweet but $$$.

I'm not sure what you mean by "kit". To my knowledge the only way to lower the rear is a shorter shocks or a shock relocation bracket. i have mine llowered an 1 1/2" in the rear (via progressive shocks) and 1" in the front with progressive springs.

There definitely is a kit to do that with and I have one of them. It is a very well made piece. It does drop the shock about an inch but it requires that you drill the rivets out of the rubber peices on the bottom of your saddle bags that sit on the rail. they must be moved so that the saddle bag is moved out 3/4". then the top of the shock has to be shimmed out 3/4". I believe they supplied a longer bolt and space for this. then your top saddle bag brackets need to be shimmed out the same distance. Your not told that before purchase. I did it and it workd great.
