Any secret trick to replace VSS?
I posted here a week or so ago about my speedo going south. Consensus was to clean the vehicle speed sensor. I pulled it, cleaned it, and reinstalled it and it worked great for a week or so. Today I look down and the same thing is happening. Some folks told me I'd probably have to replace it, so it appears they were right. Any simple trick to doing this? My service manual says it attaches somewhere in front of the battery and that I need to pull the seat to get to it. No biggee, just haven't done it yet as I was letting the bike cool down from today's ride. Just thought I'd see if there was any slick little trick or easy way to to do this, as I've never replaced one of these before. Oh, and if Road Dawg is out there, (or anyone else that might know) I'd really appreciate the part# for 2000FLHRI speed sensor. Thanks.

Nothing to it, really. I replaced mine on a 1999 Road King. Other than taking off some chrome covers that were covering the VSS, it was a 15 minute job.
Take the seat off, disconnect the VSS cable, reach around front, pull it out, take the 1 bolt out to release the VSS, pop the new one in, rerun the cable, and plug it in.
That was it.
