Default Adding new Pipes, what do I need??

I知 thinking of adding a new set of pipes to my bone stock Electra Glide, I would like a bit more rumble. I致e read a lot of info on here about pipes and tuners and dynos and I think I知 more confused than ever. I only want to add a new set of pipes to my stock EFI 88, do I need all the other stuff in addition to the pipes. I知 not a performance nut, but I want my bike to work well and still maintain my 50 miles per gallon. Thanks for the help.

Any pipe suggestions with a slightly deeper rumble (not loud) would also be appreciated. Thanks again

if all you're after is a "better" sound, then look into slip-ons (would be OK to leave the air filter and tune alone). Vance-and-Hines or Thunderheaders come to mind. Best that you go to a rally or your local HD dealer and listen to the bikes in person. Pick the sound that you like.

My first set of pipes yellowed after a few months with no other mods. I added a stage 1 air filter set up and a power commander before the next set. Been running that combo for 4 years now (I did change to the bassani power curve in there at some point too). I average 44 mpg with my very "spirited" driving style.

Wink

For a little more rumble but not loud look at Supertrapp SE's. Also, there new big shots use there disc technology that can actualy be quieter than stock but add some nice botton end power.

When you change out your pipes it is always a good idea to go to a free flowing air cleaner and recalibrate the EFI.

If you are planning on putting in an entire exhaust set up and plan on doing it yourself you may need to pick up a Torx socket (not sure about your model) but to remove the stock exhaust bracket on a modern Softail you need to find a "Long" Torx to pull off the rear peg, when I did mine I had 3 Torx sockets and all three were too short.
