Help understanding crash-causing. low-speed, violent shake on 09 RG
#31
I too have had the engine cut out for a split second on both of the EFI Ultras that I have owned. It happened so quickly that I wondered if "that" REALLY just happened or not! If I would have been leaned into a turn, I thought at the time, "I would have gone down just now". I think that is what happened to you FWIW. Hope ya find the cause for sure.

Sorry about your accident. I wish I could share some insight as to what caused your accident but everything I can think of has already been covered. If you are sure it wasn't rider error and nothing was in the road, then your bike has a mechanical problem that needs attention. I would not ride it again untill everything has been looked at, twice.

Did the rider by chance have one of those 'throttle rockers' installed - the plactic ones that assist holding the throttle..
Back before I had Cruise - I put one of these on - great for long straight hauls but I left it on after I got home and during a short ride around town - my right palm bumped that rocker and " I got a good fast lesson" Off it came..
Not sure if I saw this asked - but as he was entering the curve - did he shift down before or at the curve - dropping down two gears by accident will defently stop the back tire for a moment ??
Also - no matter how many years we all have in the saddle - anyone can have a 'brain fart'

No throttle rocker.
Didn't downshift into the corner, was in 2nd gear whole time, just easing brakes on and off as needed. Taking very slow and cautious since this is a steep down hill with lots of turns.
Traveled this road on other bikes recently, and the RG handles as good or better than the others.
It was a strange experience not like any other I've ever felt on the street or on the dirt.
Brain fart is always a possibility, but I don't think so cause I recall the event 100%.
Just hope that I don't experience it again.

How much fuel was in the tank and how steep was the down hill. A friend dropped his SE Deuce in his own driveway because it couldn't pick up fuel on the way up. His driveway is pretty steep and his tank was near empty.
The rear wheel locked, the front went crazy and he was high sided. Bike took a licking.
Just thinking. We all want to know what really caused it.
