I had the dealer put 50# in my SG shocks when I picked her up.
This is based on the owners manual recommend pressures on weight of the rider(s). Since I normally ride 2 up on the SG, 50# worked for me. Rides smoother than my Wide glide

Hello

Did you actually study which bike is which. Street Glide has a harder ride because it is a slammed ride. When I want comfort I ride the King.

Also if you read the manual the Shock pressures are totally different.

The bike is fine you probably brought the wrong one.

I love the ride on my 09 sg. I am only 5'7" so I would have to have the lower shocks with any of the touring models so I could touch.
I would agree, the SG has a harsher ride than even my 08 Deluxe, but I can ride alot longer than the Deluxe and not be tired. I am only 30 too, so that may make a difference.
I've had the SG for 5 weeks and have 4200 miles on it with a couple of over 400 mile days and would go back to a softail.
I don't ride 2 up, so that's not an issue in my case.

Ditto on the air pressures. Go up! I thought I had plenty at 15#, but did feel the bumps. I pumped them up to around 25# w/ the Mrs and rode after that solo. Noticed a difference in ride. After reading this, I plan to go higher to see how that works. Also, the front shocks on the 09' are really soft. Big debate on just going to heavier oil or rebuild the shock. I think I'm going to try the SE fork oil first to see what that gives me, and go from there.

What if I run the new tubless tires a little lower untill the belts break in? Next question is if I buy the standard shocks is there any difference in the eairler years than the 09's because now the sissybar attaches to the top of the shock?
Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
First thing you need to do is actually try it with the correct air pressure. 09 shocks require much different pressures than previous years. Check the owners manual and address accordingly to your weight etc.

Waiting for the manual because someone took mine.
Really liked my king but engine had a viabration and no fairing.
Sure would be nice to have both but I can barley afford to own one of them.[

I have a 07 Electra Glide, when I bought it last year from the dealer they said it had been lowered one inch. After reading this thread I am wondering if they put SG shocks on it to do this? I was told to never go over 25lbs in them. How can I figure out what shocks is on it so I know what pressures I can run them at. I ride 2 up alot and it does bottom out alot on us at 25 lbs . Thanks

Your shock should have a part numbers sticker on it and that part number probably ends in -97.
The higher pressure shocks have part numbers that end in -09.

First before you spend any more dollars have all of your pressures pump up to where they should be. If there was no air in the shocks that would have been a F/U ride. Before you go shocks, are you still using the stock SG seat. It sucks with regard to the passenger. Looks great but no padding. I replaced mine with sundowner and that was night and day for the passenger, especially if your wife was use to the RK seat.

I would not lower your tire pressures. That is a safty issue. More surface area creates heat. That is one of the sources of blow outs.

Hope this helps.

I run the shock pressure at 18 for mae and 48 for me and the wife. We ride for days with no discomfort. It makes a huge difference for that pressure to be correct. I also use a sundowner seat with her.
