I have an 2007 road king andi was pi**ed off when in 09 they redesigned the whole freakin suspension and frame. I already have 6 grand in extras on my rk so i cant trade up so on vacation i rented a 09 rk and an 09 ultra and for the way i ride i could not tell the difference between my 07 and the so called new and improved 09 setup thankfully i didn't rush out and trade my 07 which i love.

No I think riding it first probably wouldn't have told the story. Really didn't notice it untill I took the first ride with the wife on the back and couldn't do that unless the sissybar was on it. We went a mile and she told me to take it home. I checked and there was NO air in the shocks, aired them thinking that would help but it didn't. Now she is thinking she misses the tube tires. What if I run the new tubless tires a little lower untill the belts break in? Next question is if I buy the standard shocks is there any difference in the eairler years than the 09's because now the sissybar attaches to the top of the shock?
Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

SG ride
I to was not happy with the ride quality on my 09 sg. As other have said here, and I just installed 09 RK take offs. This was last friday. I can tell the ride is 100% better. I have not noticed the 1" height difference. Just make sure the person you get shocks from caps valves off right so no oil excapes. Just my 2 cents.

25 lbs is way to low on the new '09 shocks for two up. They take a lot more air than the precious shocks. I put 28 lbs in when I had someone ride with me the other day and we were bottoming out alot. I left 28 lbs in just for me and the ride was better than I was running.
Try 45 lbs for two up first. It will help.
I ran 15 lbs solo on my 08, now I'm prety good at 28 lbs on the '09. I may go even higher riding solo.

First thing to note is that the '09 shocks top out at 50# so they'll need more air than your old shocks to be equal in feel. Second is that the SG is lowered by 1" and therefore will bottom out much more easily. Especially with two up.
A friend put full height aftermarket shocks in his SG and loves it. Doesn't bottom out and better cornering clearance. Don't give up on the bike yet.

Sure could use some advice. Just traded my 08 Road King for a new 09 Street Glide. I was told that with the new frame design that the ride was a whole lot better. That's a crock because I and the wife are really dissappointed in the ride of the new bike. I'm running 35 lbs. in the tires and 25 in the shocks and it beats us up like crazy. It only has 150 miles on it now and have changed the seat to our old Road King redone seat and it is still like a hardtail.
Anybody had this problem and what can I do to make it better.
My body is too old for that abuse anymore and my hemmorids are thinking about taking revenge on me.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

First,
Tire pressure should be 40 lbs in the rear, 36 in the front.
Just guessing from your sig pic, but I would suggest 15-30 lbs in the shocks for solo riding, and try 40-50 with the wife on back.
Also, give it some miles to break in and loosen up. At 150 miles things are still awfully stiff. I know my shocks eased up a bit after a few thousand miles.
