Default Windvest Screen 8" or 10"

I'm 5'9" with a 30" or so inseam. I'm wanting to order a 8" dark smoke screen cuz I'm thinking the 10" might be a tad too tall.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

My wife has a 10 inch on her Dyna Streetbob and doesn't like it. She complains there is too much wind hitting her above 50 mph. Why are you interested in a windvest?

You will need an 8". With a 10" one, you will be looking through it or right at the top of the shield.

The 6" came highly recommended buy one rider at local bike night. I want more than one opinion cuz for all I know this fella may only ride on bike night and I actually ride mine (37K in almost 17 months).

I just can't believe a 6" is gonna do it.

Thanks Tex, I guess if it measures like my HD smoke (9.5") the 10 would be right in the line of sight. I can just see over the 9.5 as it is.

The 8" works for me. I am 5.10 and I can see over it just fine.

Thanks Theo, Hows the turbulence at your head. Is this the 1st shield you've tried since your stock 4" that came on the SG?

I have a 6" and 8" windshield, both with curved lip. I get turbulence with both. The 8" seems to be pushing the air over, or on my helmet. The turbulence gets worse at 70+ mph. With the 6" I get some turbulence on my glasses.

I've found that, if you have 6"-8" windshield, most of the air comes from the bottom of the fairing. This is what I did: When I ride, I place my hand, with my palm open and parallel to the ground, at chest level. I then move it from my chest toward the fairing at the same level. There is LOTS of air coming from the bottom. I have not tried any of the weird curve windshields but no windshield can stop the air coming from the bottom of the fairing.

Also, I experimented with lowering my head in relation to the 8" windshield and there was no change in the turbulence.

For me, the 8" windshield with curved lip is the best compromise. It is far below my line of sight and I do not even notice it.

Theo.
