Default A few drops of shock oil from rear shock. What to do?

A visual inspection revealed a small (about a teaspoon) of oil that dripped out of my right rear shock.
This happened after leaving the bike on the jack for about a week. I mention this because the wheels were suspended, and the shock was fully extended, as a result of being on the jack.

What steps should I take to make sure the shock is OK?

BTW.......I've never noticed this with the bike on the kickstand.

Mine stays on the jack suspended in the air 24/7 when I'm not on it and I've never had a leak. Change it before it gets on your rear disk and hinders stopping possibly causing a tragedy. My $.02

Funny you should mention that.

I noticed that the whitewall on that side of the rear tire has spotty streaks of dirt. ..as if a drop of oil hit it while the tire was spinning.

How difficult would it be to change both shocks?

It appears to be pretty straight forward.

Funds are low, so if anything, I'll look for a replacement OEM pair.

I understand about the funds, the change is very simple.

I lift my bike off the ground with my MC jack and then I put a jack(floor jack for me) under the back wheel to keep the wheel/swingarm from falling down on it's weight, then loosen the shock bolts being careful not to topple the bike over(LOL). Remove and replace.

I'll look out for some used shocks for ya too.

It has nothing to do with being on a lift vs side stand....

It's a leaking seal.

I used that exact dilemma to justify a set of Penske shocks. Kinda pricey.... but no way to describe the difference. It's a whole different bike with the addition of quality shocks.

"If" it's under warranty, your steelership should replace the shock free of charge.

If decide to stay with OEM, should I change both?
Or just the leaking one?

My rear right shock leaked at 200 miles. I just had the dealer replace that one. No issues since. Definitely get it replaced, its not safe.

I came across a new pair off an 09 touring bike for a good price.

Will the shocks off an 09 fit and work properly on an 05 RKC?

it all depends whether or not it is under warranty. i had one leak on my '06 streetglide, took it to the dealer and they replaced it free of charge.
