Good post Steve, I had similar problem happen also. The wire that lites up your oil pressure light was chaffed, causeing the bike not to idel. Fixed that, then the two wires that connect to thottle cabel for the cruise control were rubbing on the gas tank and blowing the acc. fuse.

It's a simple fix that should have been done at the factory, and it can leave you stranded on the road.......that's what pisses me off about it.

My buddy's bike is an '05 EGC, mine is a '05 EGUC.............but I'm sure it's not limited to just '05s since the wiring is the same on all touring bikes.

I had to pull the terminals out of the connectors, re-insulate the wires with shrink tubing (two layers)reinstall the terminals and correctly route the harness. It had been run under a bracket with a 90 degree bend instead of on top, so it chafed thru.

I wish I had taken photos of it, so I could communicate the issue more clearly.

Glad you got yours resolved!
I am with you - great post here and SEVERAL others saying (it happend to me) still not one good (or bad) picture..

It would really help

When we have my buddy's fairing off to replace the brackets, I'll take a picture of the location and the fix to correct it. Can't show you the chaffed wires, they are all sealed up and back to new again.
