Default Cable Median Barriers

Michigan is putting in miles and miles of these barriers.
As I'm driving down the highway I was thinking I wouldn't want to get tangled up in those cables when on the bike.

But, I like the idea of it keeping an oncoming vehicle from crossing the median coming at me head on.

I don't like them at all. In the snow belt areas they will let drifting all across the highway. Around here a few years ago they put in long Jersey barriers. A lot more money I imagine but they keep you in the lanes instead of bouncing past the area of impact.

They just completed several stretches on I94 from Kalamazoo to St. Joe.

Missouri has had them for years. they are very effective in stopping crossovers but drive you crazy at night as the posts make the headlights of oncoming cars appear to be blinking.

They are becoming very common in the south. They work amazingly well.
