The Standard is like the 44 mag of the Glides, NO BS. To bad they stopped building them in 2010, but they had to raise the starting price point for the Glides. I've got the 09 so its all good.

I like the street glide...less. I like the auxillary lights on the standard, I wouldn't want the shorter shocks and some other things.

I think it depends on whether you're going to go bar hopping or cruising.
Bar hopping, SG.
Cruising, EGS.

I've owned both an 08 SG and this time went with an 09 Standard vivid black. I noticed a big difference in being seen with the passing lamps compared to the single light (on any bike for that matter) and the SG low shocks just don't work for 2 up. Sg seat -well it sucks- your gonna change it sooner or later- I knew I was going to add saddlebag guards to either bike so ( I got the nostalgic Roadking style guards this time compared to the regular ones which to me look like a hospital bed engineer designed them), I added a few sprinkles of engine chrome and a used HK radio and speakers for 550.00. Now thats me- I went into this with a plan that I knew would work for me. Couldn't be happier. But either bike is a great choice. The extra money for the Sg is money well spent though IF and again IF you want the extras(or shortcomings (?) like low shocks and wafer seat, no passing lamps) it comes with and they will work for your needs.

The 09 Standard in Flat Black is way cool. I have an 05 standard with way too much in it and on it. Probably didn't save a thing doing it but it is what I want. Love it. If I had to do it again though, it would be the flat black 09 Standard with a little flat black powdercoat on some parts and no chrome. Would look sick and be easy to clean. I have vivid black and lots of chrome and gloss black powdercoat, I hate cleaning it. Street glides are getting way too common. If you want it to stick out in a crowd, you gotta put a lot in it. BTW, It's my experience that the aftermarket stereos tend to be better anyway, and a lot cheaper.

09 EGS for sure, bar hopping or cruising. denim black all the way. laced wheels bring it out more.

I would have to go the Streetglide, the standard's silver engine with the non mirror chrome would stop me from getting it. Plus now it is discontinued so that is another strike against it IMO.
