Question Labor for 16" Apes on 09 Streetglide

Hey guys, I know some of you have thrown apes on your touring bikes, I just had mine done and the labor came out to be quite a bit more than I expected. I'm sure it's not easy to pass all the wires through but is it really a 12 hour job?

Shop labor should be closer to 6 hours. At least thats what my dealer charges. Its not just passing wires thru bars. have to pull exhaust to replace clutch cable not to mention extending all the wires. extend brake line and bleed system. Still Id say 12hrs is a bit much.

I bought cycle smith 16" bars from Harley for like $260, and they got me for labor, 12x80= 960
On the same service order I also did stage 1 with SE intake, ECU mod, and reinhart slipons (3 hours extra on that for a total of 15)
I supplied my own Arlen Ness floorboards, grips, passenger pegs, shifter pegs, HD garage door opener (2 hours labor total of 17)

The main thing that hurt obviously was 12 hours for handle bar install.

All-in-all the labor was over 1300.

I did the 12" pyo monkey bars on mine myself. It was my first set to do and I ran all wires through the bars including the TBW. I extended wires and did the clutch cable and brake lines also. It took me around 8 hours to do everything start to finish. I would say you got hit with a few extra hours. But on the flip side, you will love them. I wish I would have gone 16's now.

My dealer charged me 8 hours to internally wire my new bagger bars by Wild Ones.
Not apes, but I did need a clutch cable.

If you ever rode very many miles with the 12" to 13" bars, you would never ride with stock bars again! I guarantee it!!!!!!!!

I had 12" on 08 XL1200 N and over 10,000 in 6 months, 07 FXDBI 17000 12" inch in 7 months, so you are correct with the 12's but once you go higher it affects circulation, and put your hand in the wind which defeats the purpose of a fairing especial if you ride in the winter months like me. O i should prob mention I was only referring to touring model with fairings...
