What one to choose.....????
I have an 06 Low Rider and now I am going to pick up a touring bike for those long rides. (Just rode to bike week at Myrtle about 12 hours one way and the Low rider just didnt cut it). There is a Road King custom with the nitro paint scheme at my local shop That I really am growing found of, but my question is how does it handle compared to the other Road kings-classic etc...... Thanks for any info

Road King Custom is the way to go! Didn't you know-it is the proven best touring bike of all the HD models!?? Its a fact!!!
Honestly the ride may be slightly softer on the other 2 RKs because they have 13" shocks and the RK Custom has 12" shocks, but I would think the the difference in ride would be minimal.
I can tell you that I ride my RK Custom 2 up all the time and took it to Laughlin this year with my g/f on the back and full luggage and we were comforatble the whole way. A buddy of mine who rode his softail up tried my bike out for a few miles and his exact word were "Damn, thats like riding in a Cadillac compared to my bike!"-True story. I would think any of the RK's would be good, but the Custom is the nicest looking one in my opinion. I have been very happy ever since I picked it up.
Just my .02.

I also have a Road King (mines a classic) and they are great bikes. I've said on this foum before though, that my next bike will be a Road Glide. You should really ride them and see for yourself. There are even a couple of people I know that couldn't stand the look of the Road Glide, but as soon as they rode one, they were converted. Take them both out for a test ride, or better yet rent one of each for at least a day and really get a good idea about what you like and don't like about all the touring bikes. Some dealers will even apply rental charges to the purchase of new bike.
Good luck, it really is hard to go wrong with any of the HD touring bikes. I also envy the S**t out of your for getting to own 2 bikes.

I like the Ultra, but then I'm kind of biased. If I had to choose a RK I would go with either the Classic or the regular RK with the hard bags. I road a RK Custom last year and couldn't stand the beach bars, they made my wrist **** at a strange angle which made pulling in the clutch during stop and go traffic hell. To me the seat sucked, it placed me in a poorly supported riding postition which caused the back to ache after 50 miles. I don't believe the Custom comes standard with a windshield which to me is a must have if your going to bolt on some serious miles, no good reason to take a beating on a long trip.

All the FL's have the same frame and steering head angle. All are made to tour on. I'm not gonna get into the "my dog is bigger than your dog" discussion again. Evaluate what your needs are now and also what items you REALLY want on the new model and go from there. Extended touring is absolutely the best way to see the Country. For my money, a radio is mandatory, as is cruise control. The Weatherband is priceless and the cruise control helps melt the miles away.
