well... with the subject on how long a person will keep their bike on a poll here....
i got to wondering ? harleys EVO motor is made [clones] by several other companys.
how many ? i have no clue. just seems like a person should never want for parts, if he/she should ever need any thing 30 years from now.
most of the custom builders seem to make their bikes with the EVO motor.
imathinkin ? i'll be able to ride mine till the day i die.

i hope so.

Plan on keeping my EVO for a long time. Not much has changed in looks from my 95 to current Ultra other than dash. And like you said, EVO parts should be available for a long time to come. Some people feel the EVO is a better motor too, but that would definitely stir up a debate.

Some guys need fuel injected, extended warranty, overheating -limp home mode- cam chain wearing twinkies.

An undepowered, obsolete, oil leaking, hard starting, POS carbed EVO works for me.

I love my EVO and don't plain on ever parting with it. Best running bike I've had no problems out of the motor or trans going on 25,000 miles. If anything I might put a six speed in one day

Mine does have EFI and I haven't had any problems out of it. Most said that the EVO efi was aproblem child but knock on wood my girl has never left me on the side of the road.

126k miles on y 95 UC, still going strong. Plan to ride it until 2010 and then get a new one but the 95 won't go anywhere, I'll still ride it probably as an around town bike.

Hell these days you can also buy new Shovelhead (gen. & cone), Panhead & Knucklehead motors as well as the original Indian motors.
Then there's a guy in Sweeden that is starting to produce new JDH engines!
All the parts for the old Flatheads are available too and soon complete engines so I'd say it's a safe bet the Evo will live on as well.

These are all brand new complete engines.
