Default RoadGlide Fairing opinions

Quick question for those that might have an idea on this.

Can I mount a RG fairing on another bike and make it fixed? I would like to mount it on a SG, but not solid mounted....I like the fairing to move with the bars and really like the lines of the RG fairing.

Thanks for the info!

Even if you can do it, I'm not sure you'd want to. My guess is that the RG fairing would be too heavy and too bulky to mount to the bars. It would be a handful in the wind!

yes you could, although you'd have major surgery going on, and would more than likely end up with a fairing you'd end up placing gently in the dumpster. the roadglides do certainly have that "stealth" look to them. it'll be my next big twin, if there is another next in my future. caymen was right in the weight issue also. there is an active thread as to how to do this, converting a streetglide, or other touring harley to the roadglide. if you're bound and determined to do it, you can, but not advisable at all to do with it flex mounted rather than frame mounted like the factory does. you may be better off trying to sell your bike and finding a roadglide instead though, if that's what you want.

No way. The fairing would interfere with the tank almost immediately upon turning the handlebars unless you mounted it so far forward that it would look ridiculous.

I saw a thread on here where the guy changed from a batwing fairing to a road-glide fairing. So I think it can be done.
But why?
Id sell mine and buy a road glide IF thats what I wanted.
