Wow, I never even thought about cleaning them and I keep my bike pretty clean!

+1 on the heavy duty degreaser...i just wipe out the residue so it doesnt cloud...

One of the problems with washing is that a bit of water gets into the baffles and steams up the ends of the pipes, just saying...
