Did you adjust the cable or did you go behind the derby cover and adjust the clutch pull rod? The adjust for the clutch pull rod is 1/2 to 1 turn of back off. If you stay closer to the 1/2 it will help this. Also with your low miles as the clutch wears a little it will have more air gap in the clutch pack. Also a synthetic oil helps the clutch to work smoother.

just to clarify, with all my other bikes i have had i started them in neutral. if i start this one in neutral and try to put it into gear within the first 5 minutes of it running there is a big clunk. i dont like when it does that so i have been starting it in gear holding the clutch in for about a minute, and then it goes in and out of gear pretty normally. i just dont understand why it does that. i currently own a 2003 fxst and it never did that-, and i adjust the clutch the same way.
