Move Fuel Gague

Move Fuel Gague
Is it possible to move the gauge locations around? For instance, move the fuel gauge to the right side where the battery voltmeter is? I would assume there is some kind of wire from the gauge to the fuel sensor, so I am basically asking if there is enough wire to move it.

I moved the voltmeter to where the air temp gauge was and put the HD oil temp gauge in the voltmeter's place. You can use the air temp's power and ground gauge connector for the voltmeter.
I don't know for sure, but I doubt there is enough wire to move the gas gauge to the right side without cutting the conduit/convoluted tubing that the wires run in as part of the interconnect harness.
Good luck with your project.

Sure it could be done. Moving the gage is simple having enough wire is another matter. There is not much extra wire any where in the wiring harness. If you really wanted to move things around it would be simpler just to splice in the extra length needed. Have you ever looked inside the faring? Or under the dash of a car it's not like there is one wire running from the sensor to the gage! It ia FAR more complicated than that.

Does anyone know how many wires are plugged into the gauge? And how many would have to be spliced? As in, are there only 3 wires, power, ground, and sensor wire? If so I am sure you could use power and ground for that gague for the one you swapped it with, so that would leave only the sensor wire you would have to extend.

The gauges are easy to remove since they're secured with two nuts.
Each gauge has two connectors: one for the gauge's light and the other for the gauge's function. These simply pull off the the gauge.
Take ten minutes, your 27Torx bit, and remove the outer fairing--you'll need to learn how to do this if you haven't already. Besides, pulling the outer fairing will let you see exactly what's inside instead of trying to type and read stuff from guys like me.
If you don't already have one, buy the HD Service Manual for your bike.
