Default Y Wheel Polish turns Blk on cast wheels

Ok its a another crappy day in the N/E what else is new anyway I was bored so I decided to polish my rims on my 09 UC stock rims..Why does the polish cleaner turn black when applied and a bitch to get off without smearing all over the rim. The rims came out good but couldnt polish more than a 3in section at a time and went through a bucket full of rags..

The black residue is the material being removed from the wheels surface. That shows that the polish is doing its job. Yes, it's a messy, time consuming chore but the outcome is well worth it....

Not sure how this would work on 09 wheels but works great on 07.
Use a Mothers Mini Power ball. About $20 at Walmart. Put the polish on with your fingers then use the ball.
Finish off with a clean rag. Way less time. Expensive(lasts along time tho) but I've found nothing that works better and faster than S100 Total Cycle Cleaner.

Oxidation from the exposed surface of the aluminum is what turns your rags black.

Use toilet paper {no lotion} to polish. I like the single ply.
better then wasting rags....

Rub them by hand I think not. That's a lot of work. I have a 6 inch buffing wheel I got at lowes and the white rouge. With a drill it only takes a few min... finish off with mothers billet

The black residue is oxidation. Just clean a small section at a time.

I use Never Dull. Works great and is sold at most dealers.
